An Easy Fruit Sundae

Sometimes you just want a sundae but without the ice cream. There's something about fruit and cream that magical tpgether. It can even be healthy.

The other day I was craving a healthy yet decadent dessert and this came to mind.

This is bananas, peaches and strawberries from Stop & Shop. It;s their brand of frozen fruit that;s perfect in sundaes but also in other desserts like crepes (which is definitely on my radar).

F course every Sundae has to be topped with whipped cream so I used dairy free coconut based Whipp. This is one of my favorite whipped creams. The non dairy versions are usually lighter and not as heavy tasting as the full cream ones.

This is the finished ,fluffy version. I love the mix of fruit with it and in the future I can add some chocolate chips or chocolate syrup to round it out.

A fruit sundae is always a nice summery treat. It can be made from fresh or frozen ones .It;s a nice light flavor, perfect for the warm days ahead.

Coffee Wars

I'ts that time of year again when iced coffee reigns supreme. The question is who has the better brew? Starbucks or Dunkin? Or is it that cup from that Indy cafe in your town or neighborhood?

My choice will always be Dunkin I'm a big fan of both their  iced  and frozen coffees. Let's face it Getting a Dunking iced coffee is more like  sipping a sundae. There's that chocolate syrup added a long with that big puff of whipped cream. The coffee itself is smoother, without the grounds that Starbucks has (sorry Starbucks)

What is your favorite as the temps rise? Let us know here and enjoy your sip whether on the beach on in the backyard.

Your New Year Your Food

It;'s New Year's Eve tomorrow and that means fancy parties and fancy foods. Yet supposedly just want a cozy celebration with either you or with a companion - whether animal or human. It;'s your New Year - your food.

It's a time when you can just splurge on whatever foods you want to eat.Lidl has a wide assortment of extravagant foods at affordable prices. Take a look at their Preferred Selcetion choices. A small Culver duck is only $34.99 and comes with a packet of orange sauce (which you can spruce up with orange juice and brown sugar). They also offer a shrimp ring for only $6.99  and some stores also have lobster. Other stores like Acme and Stop and Shop also have excellent seafood if you so choose. Indulge in crab legs with butter sauce or some coconut shrimp. You could also have petite filet mignons  again, many stores such as Walmart offer them for under twenty dollars. Serve with steamed broccoli or carrots for a simple yet elegant meal. Crack open a bottle of Prosecco or a good wine for a great drink. It's also a good night for cocktails and mocktails. try one you;'ve been dying to taste. Have two bottles of seltzer and a bottle of cranberry juice. These make the best bases for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Of course since it';s a small party fun food can abound. Think hot dogs and or hamburgers. Barbecue if your climate is warm enough. Try the famed Chicago dragged through the garden dogs. This is a hot dog, sharing a bun with fresh sliced tomatoes, pickles , chopped onions , small pickled peppers called sport ones along with neon green relish and mustard (Ketchup is strictly not allowed) Chili dogs are another fun dinner. You could also serve bacon cheese burgers, air fried to perfection. What about sides with these?. Frozen onion rings or fries that can easily be crisped up in the air fryer too. Another tasty treat are wings. You can have them extra hot Buffalo style or with lemon pepper.Nuggets are fun along with popcorn shrimp. These are nibbles that you can have with good craftsman soda or beer. Think Wild Bill's or Abita's root beer or a good woodsy birch beer such as Boylan's Beers, could be IPAs or APAs.As for dessert- again indulge in what you want. It could be cookies or a sundae with homemade hot fudge and decadent ice cream such as Lidl's.

It's your New Year's . Celebrate with the foods you want. It could be fancy .It could be just fun. Ring in the New Year with great flavors and great tastes.

Ice Cream, Cold ,Creamy Goodness

It's July and that means one thing - it's ice cream season. It's time to enjoy this treat a variety of ways There are sundaes and sodas, cakes and cupcakes made with it to savor and refresh.

What is the best ice cream to use ? That actually depends on you. Some love Blue Bunny. It' is the most flavroful and creamiest. Other's prefer Breyer's which has a less dense texture and lighter taste. What about vegan ice cream. Surprisingly there's just as creamy as the dairy however they do need to thaw out a bit before scooping. Try Oatley and Ben and Jerry;s for the best flavor. You can get everything from plain vanilla and chocolate to chocolate chip mint and fudge brownie. Now onto the syrups, Homemade is the best . The taste is the purest and it even makes for a yummy egg cream. It's just taking unsweetened cocoa powder  and sugar whisked together in a cold saucepan. Just boiled water and  salt are added along with a teaspoon if vanilla extract. Keep whisking th e sauce as the heat is reduced  to a low flame. wait ten minutes before serving. You cna also use Hershey's which is the gold standard of syrups. Smuckers has a good varoety of sauces too, ranging from butterscotch to raspberry. You could also try their Hot Fudge one too. As for the whipped cream topping nothing beats Reddi-Whip. It's light and airy with that milky taste we all love. They also have coconut and almond milk versions too.

What can you make with these? Melissa Clark gave three recipes in Wednesday's New York Times Food section. You can try her banana split, ice cream soda or ice cream sandwich ones. Her hot fudge recipe is for a think gooey one that turns to taffy when it hit the ice cream's coldness. She also includes the recipe for a sundae staple wet walnuts , hers made with honey and maple syrup. You cna also make it like the Dairy Queen classic with strawberries and strawberry sauce. Her ice cream sodas are fruity with homemade fruit syrups made with fresh strawberries or blueberries. Of course nothing beats a chocolate one, with two or three scoops plopped in sletzer and topped with a good shoot of Reddi-Whip. Her ice cream sandwiches are made with a giant chocolate chip cookie layered with vanilla ice cream. Try something different by using vanilla wafers stuffed with a fruity ice cream like peach or strawberry for a kind of macaron. Ice cream cakes and ice cream cup cakes are snaps to make. The only hard part is the cookie layer. Take Nabisco chocolate wafers crush in either a blender or in a plastic baggie with a rolling pin. Mix with melted butter and press half of the cookie layer on the bottom of the mold. Add one layer of ice cream  and one layer of topping. Repeat and frreze for an hour. Serve topped with Reddi-whip. You cna do the same wiith ice cream cup cakes. Use a silicone muffin tin to make a mini version. Decorate with candy confetti or sprinkles.

It's ice cream season. Have fun creating a sweet cold treat. Pick an ice cream and have fun making your favorite recipe.

Sweet Treats For Your Sweetie

What can end a perfect home cooked Valentine's Day meal? A perfect homemade Valentine's Day dessert. Carry on that special meal vibe with something sweet , rich and decadent. It's the perfect end for  an at home candleight dinner for two.

Yossi Arefi, cookbook author and creator of the popular blog Apt 2B Baking Co. gave recipes for three mouth watering desserts in yesterday's New York Times Food section. There are peanut butter hot fudge sundaes , a chocolate souffle cake and a chocolate Earl Grey creme brulee. They're perfect  endings for whatever you plan for your romantic dinner. The sundaes can finish a homemade pizza or spaghetti and meatballs dinner. The sauce is a silky mix of Dutch process cocoa powder, brown sugar, heavy cream and chopped bitter sweet chocolate. DO NOT use chcoclate chips because they have stabilizers that will make the sauce grainy. Half a cup of creamy peanut butter is added along with the chocolate when the cream mixture has simmered . As for assembling the sundae. Ms. Arefi suggests using a clear glass dish or even a drinking glass to show off the layers of hot fudge, ice cream and whipped cream. The fudge should go in first and then the ice cream. Don't use one that will overpower the fudge's flavor. Chocolate or vanilla will work fine. Layer on whipped cream sprinkles and of course top with a cherry.

End a more sophisicated meal with either the chocolate souffle cake or the chocolate Earl Grey creme brulee. Keep in mind these also make for lovely enders for a Saturday night in or a Sunday lunch. The chocolate souffle cake has bittersweet chocolate and espresso in it. Again don;t use chocolate chips but chopped dark chocolate for a smoother, silkier texture.Dark rum is added too. This is a flourless cake, but rich with butter and eggs. The butter and chocolate are melted together in a bain marie or double boiler first. The  four egg yolks and one whole egg. are also added to thisThe whites are added in later. It's then pured into a buttered pan and baked at 350 degrees Farenheit for about twenty-five to thirty minutes. Cocoa powder is dusted over the cooled cake. For a somewhat easier teaat. think the creme brule. Whole cream is simmered and then Earl Grey tea bags are added to this . Granualted sugar is also added along with chopped dark chocolate  As this simmers, whisk  three large egg yolks. Slowly stream in the chocolate mixture until thoroughly blended. Pur this into buttered ramekins. Then place the ramekins into a pan halfway filled with boiling water. Cook for half an hour in a 300 degree Farenheit oven. Let cool. When they're ready to serve sprinkle on a thin layer of sugar and lightly  torch with a kitchen blow torch.Serve immediately.

These are perfect desserts for a romantic night in. They're decadent and rich in chocolate and flavor. Make them for that special someone.

Last Minute Valentine's Treats

There's still time to celebrate this day of love  It's easy to do even without going to a fancy restaurant. There are plenty of savory and sweet  treats you can whip up.

You may not have the time to run out and get a lobster and then cook it. However you could make a yummy, lush shrimp dish with just the air fryer. It's just spritzing the seafood with an olive oil spray and them dipping them into a quick mix of garlic powder, salt, pepper and oregano. It's cooking them for only eight minutes at 350 degrees Farenheit. Serve them on lightly oiled and toasted Italian bread slices. Those slices can also be covered with a simple bruschetta using plum tomatoes, chopped onions and chopped black olives. A charcuterie board is a lovely and romantic way to celebrate the night . Have a variety of different crackers along with  regular and Genoa salami, along with pepperoni. Spreadable cheeses are always a nice addition too, so have a wedge of Brie and Camenbert(don't worry about having too much, all of this will make a nice lunch for tomorrow). Cornichons and gherkins finish it off. An impromptu barbecue under the stars is a great  get together if you're in a mild climate. Just have two burgers and dogs. along with two cold beers - or upgrade it with a split of champagne.

Sweet treats are also a welcomed gift. Chocolate fondue is a fun sweet, perfect for two. It's just melting dark chocolate with whole cream until it becomes satiny and smooth. Use fondue forks or even skewers to dip in everything from marshmallows to strawberries. Also have pound cake chunks and plain vanilla doughnut holes too.Sharing a hot fudge sundae is another romantic treat. The sauce is a delicious mix of dark chocolate chips evaporated milk, butter and a dash of vanilla. Spoon it over coffee ice cream and top with a good dollop of Reddi Whip for a frozen mocchaccino taste. You can also make the traditional hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream , sauce and whipped cream. Add sliced strawberries and bananas for more flavor. You could also layer on salted peanuts for a tin roof. If you're outdoors, think about a more sophisticated version of a s'more. Use good Valrhona dark chocolate with the marshmallows and place on chocolate graham crackers. You could add a sprinkle of candied ginger for heat and to cut the over sweetness.

Celebrate your love with the love of good foods. You have time to create these simple yet lush treats. Enjoy the night with them.

Time For Summer Treats

It has been a strange summer with restrictions on both coasts along with shark sightings off of New York's Long Island. Yet we can still celebrate summer with the foods and treats we love so well.

August is the time of so many harvests.Tomatoes are still in abundance. Nothing says summer than a tomato and mayo sandwich on white bread. You could give this classic a Mediterranean twist by replacing the mayonnaise with olive oil and a good sprinkle of oregano. Of course this calls for a heartier bread such as Italian or French.Another summer favorite is Neopolitan bread salad  or panzanella which calls for tomatoes , cucumbers and onions. Another summer favorite is corn. Grilled corn with seasoned butter is a summer staple and one of the best sides. Lemon or herbed butter works as does honey butter. Add some flaky seas salt and fresh ground pepper for bite. Unfortunately most of the peach orchards are closed to families right now. You can still buy baskets of them at local farms and your supermarket. A plain one is good just on it's own but you can also slice and peel them for crumbles and pies. You could also make a peach sundae by splitting one in half and pitting it.Add vanilla ice cream and top with honey and toasted oats.

Boardwalk foods have always been a summer must. Some are open and take advantage of what they have to offer. A typical favorite is fried clams. You can make these at home using corn flour and cayenne pepper.Sausage and pepper sandwiches are another seaside must eat, especially in New Jersey. Use fresh green peppers and any kind of sausage from sage to vegan and fry up together. Core and julienne the peppers and then saute in oil. Add the sausages along with salt and pepper. Generously heap onto hoagie rolls. Cotton candy and candy apples are what really make those Boardwalk trips memorable. If you can go just for those however you can easily get them at home. Amazon has the best array of them , ranging from $57.00 to $400 in price. Get the most affordable along with the flavored sugars and cones. If you have qualms about making it, watch the many YouTube how tos on how to use the machine and swirl the floss onto the cones. Candy apples can be bought on line at Nandy's Candy's  of Jacksonville ,Mississippi if you can't make it to your favorite boardwalk. You can also make the coating at home using light corn syrup, granulated sugar and red food coloring. It's boiling  all three into a syrup and then dipping the apples into them. You could add coconut flakes the way the boardwalk stands do.

It's the summer and despite it all , it's a time to enjoy hot weather favorites. Grab that buttery ear of corn or chomp into that candy apple. It's all part of the fun that's the season.

A Different Kind Of Easter

This Easter will be different. Yet maybe a cozy holiday in is what we need. It's not quite the same with the restaurant brunches or big family gatherings. It will do.

We can still have Easter ham with plenty left over. Hopefully everyone has their roasts and sides picked out. Baked beans are one great one. If you haven't bought a can you can still create you own. Just use onion powder, tomato sauce and three sweeteners, brown sugar, maple syrup and molasses, Apple cider vinegar and dried mustard are added for tang along with a splash of apple juice. It's then soaking and boiling the beans. Meanwhile, you can fry up the bacon and then add all the other ingredients. Many have potato salad with their Easter hams. A quick recipe involves boiled ones cooled and sliced. Add a good dollop of mayo and chopped celery (if you don't have it, then use celery salt) along with hard boiled eggs- which you should have.

Easter is a time of sweets, For a fun indoor/outdoor Easter egg hunt put chocolate eggs in the plastic ones. Another idea is creating cupcakes with clues in the frosting. Draw arrows or little pictograms in the icing. Since the kids are in a nd looking for activities , think about a frosting bar. Bake the cupcakes tonight and make a buttercream or chocolate butter cream as the first layer. Have jellybeans or  smaller bowls of colored frostings to create dots and stripes. It's a nice way to pass an afternoon. You could even have a contest for creating the most decorative or the one that looks the most like an Easter egg. Another fun Easter night treat is an Easter candy sundae. Layer whatever ice cream you have with jellybeans or any chocolate eggs. The last can be split in half for easier eating. Easter cookies can be turned into ice cream sandwiches.it's just putting a small scoop on one cookie, then topping it with another.

Easter will be different this year. Celebrate with traditional dishes and fun treats. Make the day memorable with favorite flavors and foods.

Binge Faves

With snow and cold weather here , there's only one thing to do. Binge!!It's great to stay in all day and catch up with favorite shows and eating . What you binge on is up to you You can go healthy or decadent, that's up to you. Either way, just set out a bowl and grab the remote.

What would be a healthy binge? Veggies and fruit.,There;'s nothing as refreshing as a platter of bite size vegetables with some kind of dip. Some stores such as Acme and Stop ; Shop sell bowls of cut vegetables with dip. It's also easy to make your own. Go light with a tangy vinaigrette made with oil and lime juice instead of lemon.Add some cilantro and hot pepper for heat. You can also go for a creamy dressing. Mix tahini sauce  with lemon and a tiny bit of dark honey or chopped dates for an interesting dip. Tired of all the low calories. Then go full on healthy decadent with a homemade French dressing. It's combining  low calorie mayonnaise and ketchup with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Longing for something crunchy? Get yourself an air fryer. This is a podlike mini oven that can crisp up fries and onion rings without all that oil. It's also good for cooking crunchy crispy  chicken tenders  and fish fillets, both the real deal and the soy kind. For those with a sweet tooth, try Crispy Green Crispy Fruit. These are  packets of air dried fruit  that are very low in calories but high in flavor and crunch. The apple  and pine apple pieces are the most addictive and are perfect for an afternoon of binge watching

Of course there is the decadent side of binging. You can make your own or order in sliders from White Castle.Have a side of fries with aoili mustard or go really calorie crazy with chili cheese one.You don't have to make your own spicy pot (although you're snowed in so why not)Open a can of
Hormels or Campbell's brand an zap it in the microwave. As for cheese, go for Kraft's Olde English. You can also buy Sargento's or Kraft's shredded cheddar mixes.Another fun binge food is pizza.Don't try to eat a whole twelve piece by yourself! That would be too bingeful!.Go with an individual pie.Stop & Shop sells single serve ones as does Red Baron. If you're not watching your weight, then finish with a hot fudge sundae. Of course there are chips and dip, but you can also splurge by making spinach dip. It's a pretty easy mix of sour cream, frozen or fresh chopped spinach and mayo. As for sweets, of course cookies. Get the Nestle or Pillsbury ready bake , bake ,cool and enjoy. Enjoy those with a soothing cup of tea or a liqueur spiked coffee.

If' it's a snowy day, stay in, Binge on your favorite programs and foods. Indulge yourself on this day off.

Squash For Dessert

Now is the time for all things squash. It's can be sauteed with garlic , baked with butter, and stuffed with breadcrumbs. It can also be the basis of cakes and sauce too. Now you can have it with a cup of coffee or tea for a sweet snack or dessert.

What can you do with this curcurbita? Surprisingly you can roast it in sections and serve with ice cream or even spiced whipped cream. It's just  cutting them into sections and de-seeding them so that they resemble cantaloupe, ,baste them with melted butter or coconut oil and then sprinkle on either pumpkin pie spice blend or cinnamon .Roast in a 400 degree oven for forty-five minutes to an hour. Serve warm with spiced whipped or butter pecan ice cream (or both!)Mash it and it can become an ice cream topping - squash sundae anyone? This requires a cup of brown sugar along with orange juice and a tiny pinch of salt, cooked with the veggie and then mashed into a thick compote.Squash bites are another sweet treat. These are Middle Eastern inspired , spiked with saffron and turmeric and mixed with a dough of mashed almonds and pitted medjool dates. The butternut squash has to be zoodled or spiralized which creates fun orange stripes running through the bites. Ground cardamom seeds are also used for more flavor. It can be put in a dehydrator however if you don;t have one , try a low oven at 125 degrees F for about half hour to forty-five minutes.

Of course you can bake squash into bars and cookies. A great recipe for bars is one topped with streusel, in a kind of marriage between coffee cake and pumpkin pie , It's a cake bottom with a pumpkin pie like filling, thanks to the cinnamon, nutmeg , and ground ginger. The streusel is a yummy mix of butter, cinnamon and brown sugar and pecans. A fun way to get the kids to eat relatively healthy is to make squash cookies. The butternut squash is cooked and mashed, again spiked with ginger and cinnamon. The gourd can be a star ingredient in many different kind of cakes too. A fall dinner party can end with an elegant layer cake , highlighted with only maple and filled and frosted with a brown sugar Swiss. meringue. A great snacking cake is the butternut coffee cake. It's a spiced up pecan loaded version of  the regular kind which would be fun at a  brunch or weekend picnic. Another fun version is a butternut sponge roll filled with a fluffy light cream cheese frosting. Again maple and walnut give the cake added flavor. A different birthday party treat is butternut  squash cupcakes with caramel cream cheese frosting. It's basically the same as the other cakes but in cupcake form with caramel sauce added.I'd use Smucker's salted caramel  to give it a savory kick.

Squash is primarily a side or a vegetarian main dish. Yet it can be made into a tasty dessert using fall flavors. Try it as an ice cream sauce, cake, cupcake or cookie, Get to know its' sweet side.

Can You Be Sugar Free?

One of the worst habits  we have is eating sugar. We crave cupcakes wit sweet , gooey icing puffs,  we add more of the white stuff to already candy like lattes. We even add brown sugar  to our bacon. However that may all be changing . There's a no sugar movement going on challenging sweet tooths all over the world to give up their addiction.

Sadly we are hard wired to eat sugar. Blame it on our earliest days when a sweet flavor signified non poisonous in plants and berries. If it was sugary, like a plum or an apple , then the eater could rest easy, knowing he or she wouldn't be sick or suffer dire consequences. Then humanity  fell in love with sugar cane about 10,000 years ago in New Guinea. People got their first sugar rush and loved it. Cane syrup then was used in religious rites and as a medicine. Iit then went onto the Asian mainland where the Indians were turning sugarcane into a powder,  used mostly for healing. It went to Persia and then spread throughout the Arab world. hey combined it with ground almonds to create the addictive confection marzipan. The European Crusaders got their first taste of sugar cane during their crusades and again fell hard for it. Later Columbus discovered sugar cane on Hispaniola and that began Europe's hard core addiction with sugar. It replaced the all natural sweetener . Now we are trying to undo those centuries of sugar use. It not only puts on the weight but tricks the body  into gaining weight,. Those white grains also do extensive damage to the liver as well. The liver is the only organ that processes glucose ad eating too much will result in taxing it.It also causes extensive damage to teeth as well.

How do we curb our addictions and go sugar free? The obvious answer is give up baked goods, soda and candy. These are the easiest because the sugar in them is obvious. We can easily substitute cookies and sweets with with fresh fruit and 90 percent good for you dark chocolate. Soda can be replaced with flavored sparkling water. Hot tea and even coffee can be sweetened with honey or agave syrup.  , instead of white refined sugar . The problem is that sugar is everywhere, even in the most savory of foods. They lurk in our condiments.Ketchup has it to balance out the spices as does mayo, steak sauces and even mustard. The best bet is use spices  or herbs to flavor meats and vegetables.Salad dressing is a culprit too. It can turn a healthy bowl of greens into a sundae. Stick to a simple vinaigrette, possibly spiked with oregano or parsley.Yogurt, that much touted health food has a whopping forty-seven grams of sugar.if fruit is added Try to cut down on it or stick to plain Greek yogurt and add your own fruit. Bread is another culprit, with some of  us eating it as much as twice a day everyday. Try to sub in pita bread which has very little sugar in it. Another idea is wrapping up meats and cheeses in lettuce wraps. As for toast for breakfast, think oatmeal with a trickle of honey and cinnamon .

We can go sugar free. It's a hard task but will become easier as we distance ourselves further and further away from it. The end result is worth it.  - a healthy body.

Sweet and Savory Switch Up

Can salt and sugar be interchanged? Good question. Sugar is used primarily in dessert and baking, Salt and other savories are used in meat and vegetable courses. Change it up a bit. Both tastes unexpectedly used can create a new and exciting spin on ordinary dishes.

Salt has been primarily used in savory dishes for millennia. Maybe a pinch of it was used in baking recipes to bring out a cake or pie's flavor.. Things started to change with the invention of Crackerjack and tin roof sundaes. The first was invented in 1896 and married the flavor of salted  popcorn with a caramel coating. People love the rash pairing of two distinct flavors. It was around this time that a savory sweet concoction hit ice cream parlors first in the Chicago area then around the country. The creation was the tin roof sundae, a layer of salty peanuts on top of chocolate sauce, and ice cream and topped by a cloud of sweet whipped cream. Of course there's salted caramel, the best flavor sensation since - well salted caramel. It was sheer genius to combine flaky sea salt with the sometimes over sweet caramel. It's everywhere now, from cookies to ice cream to ice cream topping. It does make sense because the flavors are exact opposites of each other and together they balance each other out.Another good marriage is sea salt with dark chocolate Imagine a rich dark bark highlighted with nuts and crunchy nuggets of fleur du sel.

Just as salt enhances sweet, sweetness can add to savory dishes. The mark of a good tomato sauce is its' balance of sweet and salty. Generations of  chefs, both here  and  in Italy have added grated carrot to their sauces. Its' sweetness takes away the acidic tang of the tomatoes. Some here in the States had refined white sugar. I've tried this and was not happy with the candylike taste of the sauce. Instead I used dark wildflower honey which gives a sweet, earthy mellowness to the blend,Usually a teaspoon does the trick. The darker the honey the better. It has more nutrients and minerals than the light golden type. A teaspoon of this also helps balances out chili too, eliminating the tartness of store bought tomato sauce. For years  chefs , both restaurant and home, have gilded varieties of roast foul with all sorts of sweet glazes.Honey glazed chicken and Cornish hen have pleased palates for generations. It's usually mixed with both orange zest and juice to overcome the sugary taste. Fruits have always been used with different roasts, namely  pork, ham and chicken. The Germans have been marrying apples and pork roast for centuries, The apple's taste is enhances as well as tones down the meat's intensity.

Go ahead. Mix it up by giving savory dishes a touch of sweet and sugary dishes a jolt of saltiness. It's a great way of enhancing opposite flavors and making them stand out and memorable.

A Month OF Sundaes

This is the weather for ice cream and in particular sundaes. There's nothing as neat as one. Where else can you combine all the good stuff into one gooey treat?

Sundaes are as American as apple pie and popcorn.it was create din th elast tw o decade sof the 19th Century in Illinois or Wisconsin (there are two stories here). because ice cream sodas were prohibited fromb being sold on Sundays, soad jerks took out the soda which just left ice cream and syrup. Voila the sundae was born and named for the day it was invented.

What makes a good sundae? Any base of ice cream wail do. Plain vanilla is fine but chocolate chip mint will also do. Some foodies like to put two flavors as their sundae base. it doesn't matter, Sometimes just sticking with plain old vanilla or chocolate work. You could vary and have an all fruit base combining peach and strawberry or homemade blackberry with cherry.

As for toppings, anything is possible. I usually just like chocolate syrup on top, but som e like it with thick fudge or caramel sauce. Fruits such as pineapple cherry, and strawberry are also good toppings. These taste better fresh so have it on hand when you intend to make your treat. You can add nuts or cookie crumbs to give it some texture and crunch.Finish with whipped cream, sprinkles or even the e proverbial cherry on top.

This is the weather to indulge in a cold, creamy treat like the sundae. Create one that is perfect for your tastes
