Too Much Salad?

let's face salad is one of the easiest summer dishes to make and to eat. yet there could be trouble with overeating it. As tasty as it is there should be some stops on it. with any food, it should be eaten in moderation.

Yes a bowl of greens any time of the year has so many benefits. Salads provide us with roughage and fiber which eases digestion,Each bite is laded with vitamins and antioxidants , all of which we need. Those shreds of lettuce and slices of tomatoes help with heart health and even keep us hydrated.A salad also keeps our cells strong and healthy too. Yet can too much of a good thing be a band thing? Surprisingly yes. All those greens may result in bloating and even stomach cramps (and who wants those on a hot summer's day?) The stomach cramps are due to the high amounts of fiber along with certain veggies like raw broccoli and cauliflower acting on a delicate digestive system. There's also a nutritional imbalance. While salads provide essential vitamins they are lacking in protein and fat, essential macronutrients for overall health. There can also be allergies too ,especially if kids are eating a lot of them. Then there's always the threat of e coli  which doesn't.happens that much with other foods. ]

What happens then? Do you give up salads? No, you can just modify them. Keep in mind that salads are a great way of repurposing leftovers. Add shredded rotisserie chicken from last night. That leftover London Broil from last night';s barbecue will go great cubed in a salad with tomatoes and broccoli. Try a salad Nicoise that has a good dose of protein thanks to sliced hard boiled eggs and tuna fish. This is an easy and fun way to eat a salad and get a whole meal as well. You can also add other proteins like julienned ham and salame Cheese also works wells in  a bowl of greens.  Try a filling Greek salad with a salty but creamy feta , anchovies and grape leaves. AN Italian cold cut one would be made even more perfect and nutritious by a generous sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.Another idea is subbing in pasta for the greens. You can easily make one using macaroni or fusilli as a base. Add sliced grape or cherry tomatoes, along with small broccoli florets. What's great about a pasta salad is that it can, be used as a main or a side dish.

Salad may be good but there is a bad side to it. Eat it in moderation. You'll enjoy it more with a better effect on your body.

Huel As Fuel

Eating right is hard. It's trying to get the least amount of calories and the most amount of nutrients plus a good dollop of flavor. What food has this? Huel protein shake. This is for the person on the go  who wants to have the proper amount of vitamin and minerals.

I had heard so much about it , I decided to give it a try. I ordered the vanilla and chocolate along with the flavor pack and shaker,
I bought the premixed vanilla and paired it with the cinnamon apple. It wasn't bad flavor-wise. Huel's drinks also come in chocolate and berry. Surprisingly it's made with pea protein along with tapioca. There's also flax seed and oat powder too along with a host of vitamins and minerals. Another plus is it's full of fiber too.
This is the chocolate that I zinged up with chocolate mint.

Huel has some neat flavor packs, from mocha to chai, and from strawberry to caramel and even chocolate.
This is the Huel shaker. It just takes two cups of the powder, some ice cubes and a cup of water. It makes for a well rounded meal with only four hundred calories. I plan on drinking it to lose some weight for shorts and bathing suit weather.
Huel right now is being sold only on line where twenty-four bottles are $89.00 but will last a month if you're careful. The bags are almost four pounds in weight and give seventeen servings per bag. It's $56.00 for it but it's the same as for a day's worth of groceries.

Huel is definitely the way to go if you want a full meal loaded with vitamins and minerals. It's an easy eat and perfect for the active days ahead. Try this delicious mix of flavor and nutrients for a boost .

The Importance Of Fiber

We all hear about how fiber is good for us, but do we actually know what it is? Or where to get it? What about its' benefits and drawbacks? It is a vital part of our everyday eating and can be found in even the simplest fruits, veggies , fruits, and breads.

Fiber or roughage is a dietary indigestible part of food derived from plants. There are two components. One is soluble fiber which is easily soluble in water. It ferments into gas when it hits the colon. It also gives the stomach a feeling of fullness which leads to a decreased appetite. The second component is insoluble fiber which is not water soluble. It' can be metabolically inert and provide bulking or it can be prebiotic - natural chemical that induce or growth of microorganisms that contribute to the well being of their host and metabolically ferment in the large intestine. Bulking fibers absorb water and eases pooping. Dietary fibers can act by change  the nature of the contents of the gastrointestinal tract. Food sources of it are often divided by whether they're soluble or insoluble.Plant foods contain both types in varying degrees. Your best bet for fiber is sticking to a mostly plant based  diet., namely dark green veggies and legumes. Meat has very little  - only about .028 grams.to a plant's six and  beans ' eight grams of fiber.

Switching to a fiber rich diet is easy.Foods that have soluble fiber include peas, and soybeans. along with almonds. There's a wide variety of fruits and veggies to choose from such as plums, prunes, berries and even avocados Broccoli and carrots are also right up there along with root tubers such as sweet potatoes and onions. Insoluble fiber based foods are abundant too. They're in whole grain foods such as cereal and brown breads., along with wheat and corn products. Grapes and tomatoes are also part of this group.Don''t throw away those potato skins. They're loaded with insoluble fiber. Cauliflower, zucchini and green beans are also on this list as are celery and nopals or prickly pear. Nuts and seeds are also made up of insoluble fiber so top off a salad or casserole with them. A fiber rich diet can be a tasty one. Think of a ratatouille served with warm crusty slices of whole wheat French bread or a zingy Mexican bean stew topped with shredded Monterey Jack soy cheese.A dish of cauliflower , celery and quartered plum tomatoes with a tahini dip will give you enough of a day's fiber while providing to be a yummy snack. A fun fiber filled meal is sweet potato fries  with a black bean burger. Sub in plank fries - French fries with the skins on for the sweet potato ones.

Fiber is a vital part of our diets. Make sure you get enough, whether in fruits, vegetables, nuts or grains. It'll provide for a healthy, problem free life.
