How To Starve Cancer The Perfect Gift of A Book

Talking about any dreaded disease is not fun, especially during the holidays. yet what if you could stop a host of diseases just by giving a gift of one very important book. You can. Jane McClelland's part how to , part memoir How To Starve Cancer (Agenor Books 2021) is the book to give this Christmas along with being a book that should be in every home library.

Ms. McClelland herself is a powerhouse , able to starve her own Stage 4 cervical cancer that metastasized to her  one lung. if she had gone the traditional route of chemo and radiation she would have been dead after six weeks of the initial diagnosis. She fought back. The first three hundred and eight pages are dedicated to her life with the disease. Despite it she married a brilliant and cute man and created her own line of all natural bath products with an appearance on the British version of Shark Tank, Dragon's Den.  She never gave up her beloved sailing  which took her to the South Coast of England and her beloved isle of Guernsey. She did not give up on her boat racing or being a mom . She had two sons through surrogacy (the eldest even had a talking role on the international hit Call The Midwife!!!). what is amazing about Ms. McClelland is that she will not give up on herself while battling the snooty patriarchal attitude of the NHS. It's not as kind as it's portrayed as on movies and TV. She had to dig and research, even acting as a guinea pig for treatments established medicine scoffed at.

The second part of the book is geared to how to kill cancer and reboot the immune system.  The book ends with the description of the Ferroptopsis Protocol which is using iron to starve and kill cancer. There are no recipes in the book to help the diet along. Ms. McClelland a licensed  Chartered physiotherapiust, in the UK,only gives suggestions about what to eat and what to avoid. Hopefully there will be a future book of recipes that families can use. Glucose which definitely feeds cancer cells is off the table. If you think you can replace those sweet treats with fruit, think again. She nixes grapes and pineapple, fruits that are pure sugar. Berries such as strawberries and antioxidant rich blueberries are allowed and encouraged but only in small quantities. Even veggies like asparagus are  off the table along with any grain products like bread and white rice. Opt for whole wheat loaves and brown rice instead. She also recommends being on a mostly  pescatarian diet , rich in Omega 3. Think salmon dishes. Also drink a lot of green tea and bottled water. There are also supplements that help in starving and killing cancer. She is a huge believer in intermittent fasting which is a big boost to eradicating the disease.

How To Starve Cancer is a must give book. It can help with nor only snuffing out cancer but also lower diabetes and heart disease. It is a gift that keeps on giving.

A Pescatarian Life

People are eschewing red meat in large quantities, preferring healthier and more sustainable eating habits. The problem is that they still crave the occasional burger or filet. There can be an alternative - an in between the carnivore and herbivore diets. It's pescatarianism -  a diet heavily relying on fish.

Pescatarian diets may be the best bet for those transitioning from meat eater to plant eater. It's actually more healthful than a vegan or vegetarian diet. It has all the good green stuff  like veggies but also the much needed omega-3 fatty acids that come from salmon, mackerel, herring, and fresh tuna. Adding more fish means lower risks of heart attacks, type 2 diabetes and obesity. Keep in mind that a pescatarian does have some risks. You will have to either take iron supplements or increase your intake of spinach and broccoli, veggies high in iron. Also consider eating more low sugar cereals which are also fortified with it.Another risk that may concern some is the threat of mercury. It's damaging to the central nervous system so eat no more than four helpings of oily fish a week. Stay away from swordfish and marlin because they contain the highest levels of the substance. Luckily tuna and shrimp have the lowest. As for shellfish, yes pescatarians can have all the "good" seafood like crab, shrimp and lobster. These are usually served with just lemon or cocktail sauce for dairy adverse eaters. Also another thing to keep in mind is that a fish only diet can be expensive, especially if you live a ways inland.

What dishes can pescatarians try? Grilled salmon is always delicious and there are so many different recipes out there. Try it pan fried with just salt and pepper or a squeeze of lemon. You could also add some grated ginger, sliced scallions and soy sauce. This would be a great dinner with rice and shredded cabbage salad. Salmon is also a great sheet pan ingredient. It's good roasted with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Try it with peppers, tomatoes and eggplant in a kind of ratatouille base.Cod is another fish that's versatile and can be made a variety of different ways. Many love it battered and deep fried but you can also make it healthier with air frying. It just has to be well seasoned, namely with sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Just spray the fillets with olive oil for moistness and to get them crisp without battering.. Of course pescatarians can treat themselves to the lush seafood - the crustaceans. Lobster fra diablo is a delicious treat and perfect for a holiday meal. It's a spicy blend of the lobster meat, fennel, garlic and red pepper flakes blended with tomatoes and tomato paste. It's served over spaghetti or angel hair pasta. Another luxe dinner is shrimp scampi. This garlic rich dish is usually made with butter but there are plant based butters, especially Miyokos' (sold at Target) that you can use to cook the shrimp.

A pescatarian life can be a good one. You may be giving up one type of protein but eating another. It's a healthy and delicious transition from meat eating to a kind of vegetarianism.

Healthy Pets Healthy Diets

For Panther who's enjoying his tuna and milk now in Heaven

We worry about our family's diets and what they eat. However we should also be concerned about what our cats and dogs are eating too. Just like so much of our food animal companion foods are also processed. This can cause a lot of problems, from simple obesity to various forms of cancer. It pays to give them a good healthy diet from early on. They'll live longer and be healthier.

Pet food is mostly processed and not always made from the best ingredients. There are petrochemicals added for color so that the food will be appealing to us. We buy cat and dog food according to the commercials or ads we've seen. We like the fact that our companions food are feline and canine versions of ours. However the big pet food companies (you can guess who they are) put everything from egg noodles to cheese flavoring as fillers and flavorings. Also some brands do have eggs which are good for glossy coats, however they also have egg shells in them which can get stuck in an animal's delicate intestinal tracts. There's also corn oil added as well along with offal (those gross innards we usually don't eat),

You can either go natural or add supplements to your cat's and dogs diets. Natural eating means shopping at smaller, privately owned pet shops. These offer boutique brands that are made almost by hand. They have the same flavors that regular pet foods have such as salmon , turkey and tuna for cats and chicken and lamb for dogs. However these also have the addition of wholesome grains such as brown rice and fruits  and vegetables such as antioxidant rich blueberries and beta carotene rich carrots. You can also give dogs and cats the same supplements we take. Mix a few drops of flaxseed and/or Omega 3 fish oil in their foods. This prevents or stops any cancer along with giving them healthier skins and glossier coats

Our animal companions are a vital part of our family dynamic. Give them the same good food and supplements you would give yourself. A healthy diet means a long healthy life for you all
